The Daughter of the Hare Family is one of four figures by the masterful Erzgebirge craftsman Gotthard Steglich. His figures show round as well as carved elements that gives definition to the figures. The rooster she is holding shows lots of carved detail that makes it very natural looking. The pleads of the skirt reflect the light and shadow and the handmade doily around her neck uses the traditional craft of 'Gloebbeln' where numerous strings are attached to a wooden handle. I have seen these handles flying around in the women's hands creating a delicate pattern. This is a traditional Erzgebirge craft.
