Noah’s Ark was a very popular toy in the last century in the United States and an export bestseller from Seiffen, Erzgebirge where the lathe turned process was invented. The handcrafted process of the figures is done in the same way on the lathe today, only electricity is used for power instead of water. The figures are then cut, carved and painted by hand. Christian Werner, a member of a family of craftsman, is one of the few people who is a master of the craft.
